I'm seeing a lot of calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, but only on Israel's terms.

No. For a ceasefire to be effective, and stand a chance of actually holding, it must be agreed upon by both sides, with each side giving some ground. If only 1 side gives ground, then it just reinforces the power and control of the other.

Hamas needs to release the hostages. Israel needs to stop targeting civilians sites such as the so called safe zone they told Gazans to go to. Until then, the whole situation is in an repeating cycle of violence and inhumanity.

@81732bit 🤔 If there's a ceasefire, Israel will automatically not be targeting civilian areas because they won't be bombing anything. Sorry. May be being slow on the uptake, but Israel would have to concede something else wouldn't it? Like a prisoner release?

@PearmainCottage possibly. I reckon Hamas would want a full withdrawal from Gaza before a ceasefire, or even contemplating a hostage release.

But frankly, I wouldn't trust either side to agree to anything meaningful sadly. Or stick to it.
