Ben Zanin@SwiftOnSecurity since the bulk of the MP3 patent coverage expired in ~2017¹ and open source implementations exist, *now* pirating MP3s is like downloading communism. Previously it was only like downloading communism if you were pirating FLACs or Oggs Vorbii. #history

As Gabe Newell once said, "One thing that we have learned is that piracy is not a pricing issue. It’s a service issue." The recent Bandcamp sale puts at risk the best service oriented retailer of digital music, one that's beloved by both artists and listeners. If Songtradr ruins it, I fear that many people will return to piracy, which will only hurt artists more as streaming pays dick and BC is the only way to legally acquire a ton of music digitally and support those artists
