A Paris, #Ontario cattle farmer is concerned about coexisting with a proposed 400-unit subdivision. The farmland, bordered on three sides by the Grand River, has been a family farm since 1852.

More farmland gone: this farmer will likely be forced to sell - especially once the new homeowners start complaining about "the bad smell"

‘We just want to be left alone’: Paris farmers concerned about coexisting with proposed 400-unit subdivision

Development would mean locked gate across roadway that would block access to farm

The Hamilton Spectator

@gemelliz Shrug....

Cattle farming can go away... There are much better methods to get protein into our diets

@ClintonAnderson I hear ya 😉 - However when Ontario family farms are sold, whether they had been raising livestock or crops, the farmland is often lost under a massive warehouse or 400 home subdivision = less local food = more expensive food

@gemelliz You'll never catch me defending pointless sprawl.

It might be the first and worst thing about North America.

@gemelliz Also, Sprawl has very little to do with our skyrocketing food prices

Corporate greed is waaaay more of a factor.
