A growing number of P-E-I farmers are using agricultural drones to give them a head start on the season. Spring time is muddy on the Island, making it almost impossible for heavy trucks and tractors to get into fields. But the drone is adding a couple of extra weeks to get work done before planting. Farmers, scientists aim to manage risks of nitrogen fertilizer
Researchers at the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan tested the urea fertilizer, which helps feed two-thirds of the global population. After adding it to farm ponds, they found the product degraded water quality and is a widespread threat to freshwater sources.
