The Washington Post

@GottaLaff

It will be interesting to see what happens to the WaPo Opinion section. I imagine Marc Thiessen is comfortable with this choicee.

@GottaLaff So...this hiring decision is sabotage of the Washington Post brand.
@DEWLine @GottaLaff It’s decapitation of one of the more trustable news orgs just before an election.
@GottaLaff just in time to poison Wapo coverage on Trump’s behalf.

@JBShakerman @GottaLaff

@GottaLaff

Fox news takes over the Washington Post and the control of the media by the far right continues, grows.

@GottaLaff In 2016, only 4% of voters in Washington, DC selected Trump. Does it seem like there is demand for a more conservative paper?

@GottaLaff

The attacks on the free press and democracy continue...

@Npars01 This is awful, and right before an election.

@GottaLaff @Npars01

right?

As many democracy defenders keep pointing out: ultra wealthy owned media tries to spin reality in many ways.

One lie they've been fairly successful at is: there are good billionaires and bad billionaires.

This lie is pretty much indistinguishable from mob bosses telling the population that one cartel is "good" and another is "bad."

ALL media owned by the ultra wealthy -routinely- suppresses criticisms of cultural norms and policies shared by millions

@GottaLaff

We’ll see if he’s smart enough to avoid the path CNN took…

@GottaLaff umm yeah, so who says it’s not all a cozy little club of rich jerks that owns most everything these days
@GottaLaff yea a lefty radical. 😬
@GottaLaff I was set to auto-renew pretty soon. Cancelled. I’ll wait and see without the subscription instead of with it. Heartbreaking.
@GottaLaff the blight continues 😩

@GottaLaff
@mastodonmigration

...furthering and hastening the decline of the Washington Post into the pit of MAGAt hell.

@GottaLaff Damn. And I already dropped my NYT subscription over their Opinion Page. What are the remaining options for a national paper of record?
@GottaLaff I guess I won't renew my subscription

@GottaLaff It's all about running interference for billionaires and cheer-leading the approach/arrival of actual fascism.

Anything you read in WP should be treated about as trustworthy as WSJ or NYT--that is, not very.

@GottaLaff Thanks for the heads up as my sub was due to renew later this month and I canceled it.
@deirdresm @GottaLaff I haven't had one or to the New York Times. I subscribe to the Guardian which isn't quite as awful. It's a shame because both the New York Times And The Washington Post fund some excellent reporting but their owners and their senior editorial staff stink.
