I can't see any reason why this shouldn't work...

@breadandcircuses To make this even more apt, he should plan to increase his drinking every year until 2035, and then maintain that higher level of drinking until 2049.
@breadandcircuses The sticker shock for the beer might be a bit much for his ticker in a decade or so.

@breadandcircuses First time published seems to be October 26, 2021. Still relevant 2 years later… 🙈 😰

Man Announces He Will Quit Drinking by 2050 — The Shovel

He has assured friends it will not affect his drinking plans in the short or medium term.

Unfortunately suspect it will become more relevant every year 😞

Biden has embraced this strategy, why shouldn't we all?

(In the meantime carbon emissions are rising, and I say it's time to buy land on Mars!)

Meanwhile in Germany, reality is overtaking satire: "During the next 10 years, we need to invest in and earn good money with fossil fuels in order to be able to afford the transition to renewables in 2033." Salzgitter Steel responsible for 1 % of the country's CO2 emissions puts in like this and the state media pushes it into voters' heads.

Even if finally hydrogen technology would be used I doubt that capitalism creates anything that's good for us.

Stahlkonzern Salzgitter investiert in wasserstoffbasierte Herstellung

I think I'm okay to drink 500mL beer per day. However, my drink frequency is quite low. I'd sell 75% of my drinking-credit to help this ambitious people reach zero-alcohol goal.

@breadandcircuses A really smart man would just quit sometimes and use those times to establish credit for his normal use. For example, if he doesn't drink while sleeping he's got a good 8 hours of steady consumption while presumably not even drinking at all. He could also buy a bunch of NA beer, dump it out, recycle the bottles, and then just drink regular beer to replace the NA. Again, a net zero consumption while actually managing to get quite the buzz on. His liver would love this.

@breadandcircuses Forced by doctor to not exceed 2 units a day I find 0% beer tastes as good as alcoholic stuff. Not found a white wine that's OK but Wolf Blass 0 Shiraz is not bad at all and I'm forgetting to have my meagre 2 units even

A net-0 carbonnation is an idea I frankly can't get behind. 🍺

@breadandcircuses this feels like a metaphora for something different
