Remember, the teens who come to your door tonight are still trying to adjust to leaving childhood behind.

Be kind. They need the candy more than the darling little ones.

I am happy that the above was my first post to reach 50 boosts.

Thanks to all, from me and my gangly 12 year old grandson πŸ’ž

... who is the small child holding my hand in the profile pic.

We are over 100 boosts. I feel I have left nothing on the table for all our collectives young teens.

We rock! πŸ¦‡πŸ§™β€β™€οΈπŸ‘»πŸ†πŸ¬πŸπŸ«πŸ¬πŸ

@Edelruth we get a lot of older kids at our house. I only tease them if they aren't in any kind of costume.

@IdahoLark @Edelruth I was always of the mind of "I'll give candy to anyone as long as they make an effort to play within the rules."

The only exception is if they were clearly chaperoning younger kids, because let's be honest - chaperoning energetic trick-or-treaters is a lot of work.

@Edelruth quite a few of these guys visited my house πŸ₯°
@Edelruth
Did a teen write this?

@Mcdyer

Gracious, no but thank you. I'm the grandma in the profile pic. That's my now 12 year old grandson, (who is now taller than me), in the picture, holding my hand.

@Edelruth Said this to my BIL when he complained about a few teenagers. Who cares? You're never too old for free candy.
@Edelruth You show up at my door tonight, you get candy. I don't care if I know you from high school. Until I'm out.

@Edelruth Well, OK, maybe not that one guy from high school. But I haven't seen him in decades.

@jmax

Well, to be fair, he's probably a tree tp-er. 😎

@Edelruth Nobody comes to where I live now, but my policy has always been if you're in costume, no matter how low effort, you get candy. Age is a non-factor
@Edelruth Agree! There are so many bad choices of Halloween night activities for teens. Trick or treating isn't one of them.

@Edelruth

Just had a whole gaggle of black teens come to the door. Dont tell the wife, but I let them take like a good third of the backup candy. They played by the rules of the game, and had costumes and said the ritual phrase that pays. They can have all the candy. :)

@Edelruth Can I quote you on that?
@Edelruth
I usually give candy to parents who walk up the steps with the kids- if you walk around the block, you need candy
