The American MSM has always - and I do mean always, going back to Kaiser Wilhelm! - waxed lyrical about extreme RW power dudes (and Dudettes; they loved Maggie Thatcher).
They just love fascists and the fascist-adjacent. Maybe because they're trained to have no opinions of their own at all, they get a vicarious thrill out of talking to someone with outrageous ones.

Our society, by and large, values the veneer of politeness and civility over any actual substance. You can do and say the vilest, most evil shit, but as long as you dress it up in veiled language, a suit, and an expensive haircut, a significant portion of the population will treat you as though your opinions are worth considering, even if they disagree.
