Last night, while watching TV after dinner, I searched out the #Apple #Newton #MessagePad & #eMate PC serial cable pinouts and tested my cable:

https://www.nsbasic.com/newton/info/technotes/cable.html

All seems in order with no shorts or odd resistance. Good.

Next up: testing loopback connections from #OpenBSD and the eMate running #PT100 by shorting the TR/TX pins. Hopefully that'll help identify where something is going wrong with the connection.

Can I also just note: #NSBasic FTW for still having their #Apple #Newton pages live!
@morgant But can you still purchase Newton software from them? That’s the question.

@splorp I had this nagging feeling that we didn't need to register their #Newton software from them anymore. Sure enough, they released the #NewtonOS #NSBasic & #NewtCard source a couple years ago:

'[NTLK] Great news: George Henne published NS Basic and NewtCard source code for us!' - MARC

@splorp Of course, I just read the full #NewtonTalk thread and it looks like the resource forks might not be included in the GitHub repos. :(
@morgant Bummer.
@splorp @morgant this never would have happened with iDisk.
@Eggfreckles @morgant Pretty sure that using iDisk as part of a version control system was never a recommended path.
@splorp @morgant or for file sharing, or syncing, or backup, or iWeb.
