Eyyyy, im Baltikum ist man in letzter Zeit auf den Gedanken gekommen: "hey, könnte man eigentlich auf unserem Eisenbahnnetz (das, wir erinnern uns, vor knapp über 30 Jahren noch vollständig in einem Land lag) eigentlich Züge grenzüberschreitend einsetzen?"

Also hat man das jetzt einfach mal ausprobiert und oh Wunder, so eine litauische Diesellok kann ja tatsächlich sogar in Estland fahren. Unglaublich! #CrossBorderRail

@moritzkraehe The decision by the Lithuanian (?) state railway company to rip out about 10km of track leading to Latvia in order to prevent anyone else from using it led to a legendary antitrust case about 10 years ago. But the track in question is still gone.

@Martinned Yeah! And somehow, after reopening, Latvia suddenly went very quiet about the #CrossBorderRail trains they'd claimed they wanted to run on this route...
