AP: Hamas-run Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip says at least 500 people have been killed in an explosion that it says was caused by an Israeli airstrike.
An Israeli strike on a hospital in #Gaza is "horrific and absolutely unacceptable," #Canada Prime Minister Trudeau tells reporters. "It's not acceptable to hit a hospital."
Harsh condemnation of the attack on a hospital in Gaza also being issued by Iran, Jordan and Turkey. There is no on-the-record reaction yet from officials in Israel to Hamas officials saying the explosion was caused by a direct hit from an Israeli airstrike.
AP, citing Palestinian officials, says President Abbas has canceled his planned meeting in Jordan with President Biden.
Media reports say the summit with President Biden in Jordan with King Abdullah II, Egyptian President al-Sisi and Palestinian Authority President Abbas is canceled. Biden en route Joint Base Andrews to board Air Force One for the flight to Israel.
The cancellation of the summit in Amman is now confirmed by the foreign minister of Jordan.
"Mr. President, are you still going to Jordan?" travel pool reporters on the tarmac shout as Biden arrives at Joint Base Andrews. He boards Air Force One without responding.
A White House official confirms the summit in Jordan is not happening.
Air Force One now en route Israel.
President Biden has been briefed about the “terrible loss of life” at a hospital in Gaza, according to the White House.
“I am outraged and deeply saddened by the explosion at the Al Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza, and the terrible loss of life that resulted.” - President Biden in a statement
@w7voa Deeply saddened but not enough to actually try and bring the Israeli government to heel. Gotta protect that regime to stroke the fevered apocalypse fantasies of certain American religious extremists.

@w7voa

Unless I'm missing something, it's still
not clear whose rocket it was.

@w7voa Biden couldn’t even give lip service to Gazan loss of life at the start of the flareup, his words are meaningless now.
Latest from IDF on the Gaza hospital explosion.
@w7voa Armies trying to dunk on media with meme verbiage is peak 2023 and I hate it so bad
@w7voa a social media account for an army saying “you had one job” about a pure tragedy is just the most heart wrenchingly tasteless thing.

@TheEjj @w7voa It's talking to journalists, whose one job is to report accurately.

Seems like a legitimate statement.

What do you think the other job of a journalist should be?

@Judith_IP @w7voa it’s the use of the phrase that is tasteless, not the accuracy of the sentiment.
@w7voa that’s a one-sided take, the @israel account had to retract their own accusations because their own timing was wrong.

@w7voa

Let's review:

"a rocket aimed at Israel"

"a rocket"

Given the scope of damage widely reported by numerous, credible sources, it's impossible to believe that "a rocket" caused all that damage

The IDF and Israel are lying

Of course

As usual

@w7voa “you had one job” thing, a 13 year old is running their account?
@w7voa Good grief. The language of that post makes them sound like surly teens. Disgraceful, given the context.

@w7voa

Weird statement from Israel. They keep implying a connection between a Hamas rocket and the hospital being hit, but never say it outright.

The other interpretation is that Israel "defensively" and/or accidentally blew up the hospital and hundreds of civilians because a rocket was launched near it.

If Hamas blew up the hospital, I'd expect Israel to say that explicitly. They never do. Just that it was Hamas' fault (for making Israel do it?)

@w7voa can you please stop uncritically repeating claims from unbiased sources?
@w7voa they threatened hospitals with attack in the days leading up to this. Israel is ultimately responsible.
Sparse information from the White House about what is now a quick Israel round trip for President Biden.
@w7voa Are they flying to Ben Gurion Airport? I thought it was being shelled.
@w7voa I worry about his safety. I'd love to see a President Harris, but not yet.
