The Anti-AntiAdblocker uBlock Origin filter to get rid of the annoying YouTube message. It turns off the JavaScript anti-adblock payload.

update, looks like the link is dead, but here are official instructions https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/issues/19976

@yogthos 'Stop blocking ads!'

'Me: OK stop shoving unskippable ads before during and after to the point it's ten minutes of ads for five minutes of content.

@singletona @yogthos Yeah, I tried watching YouTube without a blocker and it made the YouTube experience feel worse than broadcast TV. (At least the broadcasters can set the breaks so that they don't bust into a show mid-sentence...)
@yogthos THANK YOU! This has been driving me up the wall. Sorry, YouTube, but I'm going to continue blocking ads!
@yogthos Where is this message being seen? Adblock Plus on Firefox on Linux seems to be working just fine.
@stevenaleach oh youtube started making a popup complaining about adblock, I started seeing it today on FF with uBlock, I just ended up adding a rule for blocking the element initially, but blocking the js source is even better :)
@yogthos As Dr. Zuboff said in her book, “The Age of Surveillance Capitalism,” IT’S NOT OK TO HIDE FROM OUR OWN LIVES. Such BS to keep up with thls shit. Put your energy into making this a non issue.
@yogthos Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work on my end.
@win8linux doh, another option is to block the UI element for the popup, I ended up doing that earlier
@yogthos @win8linux Unfortunately I'm not getting a popup anymore (although I did get it for a few days), but the entire video player is now replaced by this message.
@yogthos And the arms race continues.
@yogthos
Easier solution:
YouTube Premium or Lite
@yogthos glad this exists, i personally still use revanced for mobile youtube but i cannot find a decent enough alternative for web youtube, so this is gonna be very handy until theres a proper alternative for web youtube users that doesn't throw a fit when its in firefox
@yogthos I guess this is the same scripting as Brave uses, so can be added in as a custom script?

@sourcejedi it's good to see there's official guide now, I figured adding filter lists for the ad servers can't do much harm hence why I shared the link

@yogthos
Hi yogthos! Sorry, it would have been better if I put an introductory comment, in front of the grumpy Free Software developer quote :-).

I don't even know how well it works, but I wanted to share the "official" response. It looks like they have a lot of experience helping people fix their browsers, and those are good steps to go through before users try adding rules shared by someone they don't know :-).

@yogthos
The following is pedantry and not a criticism, but I don't think the file you linked is "adding filter lists for the ad servers". It looks to me like it runs four javascript commands on each Youtube page, to trick the web page. It's a bit more subtle, and I can definitely imagine it interfering with default-enabled rules that are trying to achieve the same goal.
@sourcejedi yeah for sure, the official solution is always the best way to go, and link is very much appreciated
@yogthos it's so sad some of the brightest minds of the planet are wasted on ads.
@yogthos enderman? Isn't that a youtuber? Is that's his website, it's a youtuber fighting against youtube ad policies. Which says a lot about youtube ads when not even the content creators that work on Youtube wants ads on Youtube to be enforced.

I think we should get rid of ads and move to other formulas. Sponsorships and patrons seems to be working fine for them, as well as merchandising and other options such as donations.
@yogthos
I'm getting a 404 not found.
@Colin oh looks like it's gone, but there are official instructions now https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/issues/19976

@yogthos I'm not seeing anyuthing here other than 'turn off or disable everything else because running more than one ad block will conflict' and 'make sure everything is up to date.'

@yogthos That's useless now. YT already recognize this method.
UBO with the default filters set does the job pretty well against all the latest yt bullshit.

This way also works pretty well:
