I'm standing in a large Kaiser facility. People hacking lungs up all over, including staff. In the last 30mins, I'm wearing the only mask I've seen. Staff or patient.
They tried to wedge me with a dozen obviously ill people in an 8x12 room.
I'm standing out in the hall, but if they don't see me in 5more minutes, I cross my threshold and go grab my PAPR
Now in PAPR. Cue the dirty looks and staff frowns. I've not had COVID, prefer to keep that true.
The doctor came in, saw me in PAPR, went out and put a mask on.
About half the doctors I run into will automagically go put on a mask if they see me masked. Boggles my mind they don't by default, but at least they're that polite. Another 10% will ask if I prefer they're masked. They remainder are oblivious.
I have major surgery in a few months. I had cancer treatments put off when covid first flared up. I just don't NEED their bullshit. They, better than anyone, should understand I don't need their bullshit right now. And I also don't need their COVID.

But it goes further. Hundreds of staff, likely thousands of visitors when I was there.
I did have a woman approach me in the lot afterwards, I expected the usual assault.
She wanted to ask about where I got my PAPR. When she found out the cost, that was it.
I suggested a respirator, I like MSA, but she was disinterested.
Like getting COVID in your 70s, WITH insurance, is going to cost less than a couple grand PAPR!
@antiaall3s The Australia statistic is incorrect as worded (error originated in the Tweet). 11.7% of the patients that caught COVID in the hospital died - still horrible and a travesty, but not 11.7% of all patients.
