The first new route extension of Milwaukee's Hop streetcar is about to open for passenger service. It will be called the L-Line – short for Lakefront Line.

It's pretty good.

August 2023 ridership was down from July 2023 (65,749) and June 2023 (50,293), but up from August 2022 (40,319). July 2023 ridership was that darn streetcar’s highest ridership since September 2019.

47,552 people rode that darn streetcar in August 2023

That darn streetcar's July 2023 ridership was its highest since September 2019.

I'm hoping that finishing the lakefront line allows them to start building momentum for a third line. (Maybe from the intermodal station to the convention center or MATC?)
