Some folks on X and Bluesky have shown their dislike towards ”the feel-good attitude” of people on Mastodon. In their world Mastodon is too matter-of-fact, no sense of humor and not raggedy enough. In fact, they prefer filth over wholesomeness. It strange. For me it’s like talking with a drug addict as a sober person. Being sober doesn’t make me Jesus Christ, arrogant or a good person, but it reflects the negative feelings in the addicted mind.

One of the type once used the hashtag #JeSuisRolle to fuck with me, since I use my time on other social medias often to talk about the advantages of Mastodon. This concept of being a victim of social media is so funny to me I have started using that hashtag myself.

#Mastodon #Bluesky #SocialMedia

@rolle hey dude, I'm on BlueSky BTW, I'm unable to find you there, mind telling me, what your username and at which domain is there?
rolle - My socials

I'm many things, but most of all, I'm human. In the following social medias I'm actually active.

@rolle thanks, now I'm following you on BlueSky :-)
@rolle Let them X junkies burn in their hate. We’re so cool on #Fediverse ❤️

@bearhugger @rolle

Was true but some terrible posts have been made about Israel/Palestine here. As though the situation wasn't terrible enough already.

@stuart @rolle I think, without any information about what has happened here, I believe that we cannot compare “some posts” on Mastodon to promotion of lies and disinformation on Twitter. 🫨

@bearhugger @rolle

Difference is you expect them on #Twitter and even get used to it but here each one has a shock value. Just "how do they think that is an acceptable post? “

I don't report them 'cos that' ll probably wind them up a notch.

@rolle @stuart You’re right and I definitely understand how you feel as an Ex-Mastodon.LoL user. You start to see this place as a safe haven but realize that hypocrisy might be here also… 🥸 However, I still prefer Mastodon over Twitter. ❤️

@rolle I think "Twitter brain" works well to describe this sort of behavior. It's like they think drama is fun, but they're not actually having fun. It's like they think conflict is good, but they don't actually care whether or not it's productive

The way I see it, some people are just addicted to outrage. Whether it's moral righteousness, a desire to see the world how it really is, a belief that debate is intrinsically good, or something else, they seek out content that makes them mad

@rolle

See, social platforms have themselves become tribes.Which one you choose to be on declares your tribal membership.

@rolle I haven't noticed this, but I mostly pay attention to people I have chosen to follow.
@rolle This is the second time in a month I've seen someone compare using a not-Mastodon social media site to addiction, which is twice too many. I think there are far better ways to get your point across that don't include digs at people dealing with a challenging mental and physical health condition. It's similar to people saying they are Twitter "refugees." World ending? Nah. But it's pretty insensitive.
@haley_exe Your comment intrigues me because for me his metaphor was very illustrative and really gave me a sense of what his experience is. It's just a metaphor. Why does that constitute a dig for you? I read it and felt sympathy for those who don't agree a more welcoming space is what makes a social media site fun. cc @rolle
@rolle how’s this f the Xtweety birds flying in their false bluesky facade which is actually a green screen tech bro trick covering a fossil fuel filled polluted cesspool
🤔
Is that what they are looking for 🤷‍♂️

@rolle I kind of find these assessments funny in its narrow scope. The fedi isnt exactly immune from the behavior experienced on social media (in general). Just like them, we have a bunch of good humor and good vibes, .... but we also have people who are elitist assholes, who want to hold superiority over other users. We have infighting (see the fediblock drama) alongside informative posts and intent towards meaningful action. It's a mix, really

(1/2)

@rolle ...(2/2)The only thing that might seem better here on the Fedi (vs other platforms) is
a) we Don't have an algorithm trying to strongarm us into viewing what they want us to view.
b) we *do* have access to tools for us to remove bad actors from our mentions and timeline
@rolle I mean I like yours better, that’s why I’m here and not there 😂
@rolle It's funny. I've encountered quite a bit of funny material here. The people over there don't like the fact that the humor here isn't cruel.
