For the record I currently use 2 columns with the 2nd alternating between Local feed and Notifications. I bet when I'll add some new columns when Ivory is able to browse local feeds from arbitrary servers.

@todd Trying to reply to a toot from one account (one column) by switching to another account inside the compose window returns with an error.

Using the “correct" account by locating that same toot in its feed, sends the reply. Why is that? In Tweetbot that worked just fine. Still, tnx for a great client!

@rusty1281 can give that a try and see if I can duplicate the issue.
@todd Is that something that Ivory should be able to do? I'm not familiar with the Fediverse protocol but isn't the local timeline something that each server would decide whether to make available publicly or hide? (Btw browsing other instances' timelines is something I'd love to have been able to do to discover interesting accounts to follow)
@attila yeah it is on the shorter term todo list. I’m not sure if instances can even hide their local timeline.
@todd I have seen a few Mastodon instances that don’t expose their local timelines, which means you wouldn’t be able to browse them unless you have an account local to those particular instances. This is observable at least via the Mastodon web interfaces.
@todd 1 for Timeline and 4 for mentions of the Different accounts.
@todd I use 5 columns (1 for main feed and 4 for my lists). Ivory is the most fragile app on my mac, I am always extremely careful when using it, I should never ever close the window with semaphore icon or Cmd W because this way I’ll lose all columns.
@talala thought I fixed that a long time ago. What version of macOS?
@todd Oh, I didn't know and continued that behavior not to accidentally lose columns. Thank you so much, it's such a relief! 😘
@todd I’m using 3 columns: feed, mentions and notifications. I wish I could remove mentions from notifications (same on iPhone), and also move mentions and notifications forward if I’ve also seen them in the feed (also on iPhone 😅).
@nhoizey on the list to get updated.
@todd Really looking forward to this actually, would be really great to view the local timeline of other instances.
@todd I didn’t answer because I mostly use Mona for Mac but I use two columns with it. If I used Ivory for Mac I would also use two columns.
@todd I have three Mastodon accounts, so I have multiple columns.
@todd I use a single column, and in a perfect world, I would love to have the option to move the home/profile/search/etc icons from the left margin down to the bottom to match the layout from the mobile app, so that I can keep a tall/skinny window docked on the side without taking up too much space.

@todd i used to use 4+ when I was using Tweetbot for Mac but have not yet found a case for it on Ivory for Mac yet.

that said, i do like having the option to add more someday.

@todd I answered 1, but back in the Tweetbot for Mac days I had 8. I'd happily return to that if Mastodon search and lists improve at the service level.
@michaelsteeber yeah search needs a great deal of improvement still. What do you need from lists that wasn't added in 4.2?
@todd that’s mostly on me. I just haven't taken the time to go back and build lists since 4.2. For a while I had a second account I used like a list that I need to migrate.
@todd These polls offer great reassurance that you guys are minding your own business, and not tracking us.
@skoda yeah, no tracking at all in any @tapbots app.

@todd Home/local/mentions for me usually.

I’ll add another if there is some kind of event or breaking news story I’m following

@todd 4+ in full screen (would love to be able to set any column as my timeline, not just the first one!)
@todd Currently i use a 2 column setup. Left column the home feed, second shows mentions.
