And then there’s iPad 😬

Showing tabs in the sidebar wastes a ton of space. Putting them at the top isn’t much better, as it permanently eats into the content area (it looks especially bad in the video detail view).

And the visual hierarchy feels off. To me, toolbar buttons are almost as big and prominent as the tab bar, so nothing really stands out.

Some technical rough edges too:

• Swapping between the tab bar and bottom toolbar causes a weird animation glitch. The toolbar disappears, there’s a brief “nothing,” and then the tab bar pops back in.
• The Search tab feels awkward. Other tabs shrink to make room for the search bar, which makes it feel like a totally different part of the app.
• I’m not convinced users will intuitively understand that the bottom search bar searches the whole app, while the top one filters just the current list.
