Sorry RailEurope I think you’re bullshitting here at #WorldPassengerFestival

You’re not offering even close to cheapest prices on Paris-Frankfurt - more than €15 more than DB. I assume RailEurope only uses SNCF’s API for inOui

Just been told this is the case because of how Rail Europe cannot make all the API calls it would like to.

Ok then, some rail firm (DB by the look of it) is being nasty to them. It prevents Rail Europe offering full price comparison.

How do we fix this? EU law (MDMS) to oblige operators to free up their data. Because if they don’t customers lose out.

@jon yup - only a law can fix that. APIs are easy and simple and safe. The only reason for blocking access is monopolistic behaviour
@jon it is quite hilarious how private companies are registered in each EU nation (and the UK when it was still in the EU). Some nations - notably Spain - do not allow API access because the Spanish government decided to give the equivalent of Companies House to a monopoly private company. So company information is easily accessible for all companies in Europe via APIs except companies registered in Spain. EU law can fix this.
@jon This is long over due!
@jon Frans Timmermans did put in a deadline for this but now he has left the EU politics I doubt that date will be upheld.
@CodexNotFound the date will definitely NOT be upheld. We know that.
