Meridian Brothers & El Grupo Renacimiento (“Rebirth Group")
“…an invasion of extra-terrestrial cumbia. A shock to folklore with citric keyboard juice, nuclear guitars and cosmic electronica…”

Entry no. 2 in the #WhirlySquirrellygig playlist of current faves. A Dirty Projectors classic from the “Bitte Orca” era – tender, live, acoustic rendition of “Temecula Sunrise”.
Entry no. 3 in the #WhirlySquirrellygig playlist of current faves includes two avant-garde records that pair well. Percussion on both exquisite, mwah (air kiss, yum).

Entry no. 10 in the #WhirlySquirrellygig playlist of current faves. Susso ’s song “Susso Kunda”. I don't know anything about this band yet, but the song is set to repeat (endless loop) right now.

Entry no. 17 in the #WhirlySquirrellygig playlist of current faves. “Singularity 08: Tell Me Not Here" by the enigmatic Vanishing Twin. If only there were more 19-minute explorations of a landscape as cohesive & near in form to exquisite samplings of variations in the alluvium of a notion or nearness to a tidal pool of subterranean subconscious.
Entry no. 18 in the #WhirlySquirrellygig playlist of current faves. “Wider Than Itself" again by Vanishing Twin. Perhaps you are a Stereolab fan, as I am. Perhaps you like their songs which are like a leisurely meander in a hazy, dream-like day with no beginning and no end, in a wooded cityscape that is both familiar and strange… This landbase is sublime, subscendent, and is wider than ourselves.
Entry no.19 in the #WhirlySquirrellygig playlist of current faves. “Firecracker" by Frazey Ford. Hints of Neil Young, Aldous Harding, and Etta James. Smooth, buttery, high & lonesome. Yum. Wonderful texts, too.
Thx to @blankfrank for this discovery.
@blankfrank Entry no. 20 in the #WhirlySquirrellygig playlist of current faves. “Nokturn (Grand Finale)” by Axel Boman. This song “slaps,” as the kids say. Try listening & not dancing: I dare you. Boman’s album “Family Vacation" probably belongs on the #SquirrellyWhirligig playlist of all-time faves, too.
@blankfrank Entry no. 21 in the #WhirlySquirrellygig playlist of current faves. “Hard-Headed Woman (Live At Town Hall Party)” by Wanda Jackson. This song not only slaps, it also slaps you upside the face.
