@juglugs In a world where people judge, is that wise?
I have had problems getting work in the past because employers thought that I was gay. Well, I'm not and never have been but for me, it's the flipside of your coin.
Straight employers that won't employ people they think are gay. It's really hard to prove one is straight.
@nbl @juglugs Honestly, that is not the worst I have seen nor experienced from employers. In my time I have seen racism, sexism, phobias of various types and dishonesty.
I recall one recruiter offering me the job and my looking the guy straight in the eye and telling him that no way no how would I ever consider working for the company. That was without even having to go away and think about it.
I have turned down quite a few employers - mainly based on honesty. If I smell dishonesty from a recruiter, I'm out the door. I have even walked out mid job interview.
I have been turned down because I'm not gay, not black, not female and a whole host of other reasons. It was pretty damn obvious on each occasion what it was but they weren't dumb enough to say it.
In most instances, it was probably a Godsend not to be working with though I was both furious and sad at the same time when it happened.
