As we enter the trial, and you see the endless reporting referring to the "boy genius" "crypto whiz kid", remember: Sam Bankman-Fried is not a child.

His mom was too busy profiting from the "ethics" she taught her son

What did you see that leads to that conclusion?

this most recent interview material confirmed that view.
though I'm no clinician, I think most would agree his behavior falls outside of norm.
Author Michael Lewis spent countless hours with FTX founder and alleged fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried. He details the cryptocurrency wunderkind's rise and fall in his new book, "Going Infinite."
Not getting the neurodivergence vibes off that myself. I'd agree clearly a _belief_ system out of the norm, but I feel that could be due to too much insulation from the consequences of his actions up till now.
Not saying you're definitively wrong though!
> offering refreshments to a reporter “as if we were there for a playdate”.
Unless the refreshments were ants on a log, fruit roll-ups, and pizza rolls isn't it pretty normal to offer refreshments to guests?
"Oh, the poor autistic boy..."
yeah, if he wasn't from a rich family and/or male this would be playing out very differently
You just have to know how to speak the language of reporters covering Silicon Valley.
"Boy genius" => "Arrogant man-child"
"Tech mogul" => "Arrogant venture capitalist you don't care about"
"Mercurial leader" => "Arrogant and abusive boss"
"Tech wizard" => "Arrogant, mediocre, but well-connected white man"
"Technology reporter" => "Person who brown-noses arrogant tech oligarchs for access"
No, it is absolutely not a coincidence that all of these contain the word arrogant.
@molly0xfff
“He’s not a child! He’s thirty-four!”
Great piece. Thank you.
@molly0xfff , but he is white, with a baby face!

@molly0xfff rarely is someone who sounds so nervous, more entitled to speaking with utmost confidence.
You hit the nail right on the head.
I recall around the time this was published wondering if i was just too stupid to understand these technologies. It is very nice to have confirmed that i was probably too smart to be conned.
Michael Lewis is a major offender here.
I really enjoyed your appearance.
I listened to the whole series with interest, and a pit in my stomach.
His attitude towards white collar criminals from Madoff to SBF appears to be roughly "He was just having some fun playing a game and committed a foul, take your free throws and move on. Why are you guys being so MEAN to him?"
I'm wondering whether I'll be able to stomach his "Judging Sam" series starting up now...
