Restoring military aid for Ukraine.
Ending the Republican impeachment committee would probably only do them a favor.
Too much of what Republicans and their donors are doing are violations of the law, national security, or ethical standards.
Much of what the GOP does is bribery, extortion, and public corruption.
Short of another coup, these current GOP members of Congress could well be sharing a cell block with Trump, Trump's spawn, and Trump's Russian donors, Deripaska, Intrator, Muraviev, Vekselberg, etc
Qevin doesn't want a single Democratic vote.
The only vote he wants is that of Trump.
Remember that Trump wanted a shutdown. Qevin went against that and Trump hasn't gone ballistic.
Probably because Trump allowed him to put forth the CR.
Qevin is Speaker as long as Trump allows him. 222 Republicans are enough to keep him Speaker.
@georgetakei House Democrats should keep challenging the speakership EVERY DAY so long as
1. A Republican (any Republican) is Speaker;
2. The Hastert rule is in place (denying consideration of bills, even those that would pass with bipartisan support, if a majority of the majority party don't support them); AND
3. The Judiciary Act of 2023 (expanding and UNpacking the Supreme Court) hasn't been passed and enacted.
Make those two reforms a NECESSARY CONDITION for business as usual.
What moderate Republican would want this job? The far-right nutjobs have caused misery for the past 3 GOP speakers in a row.
On the other hand, every time I think "No Republican could be THAT stupid", it's like the universe says, "Challenge accepted."
We should start placing bets on how long it will be until Santos goes around telling people he is the speaker.
@georgetakei I disagree - the impeachment inquiry is an obvious farce that’s collapsing under its own inadequacy.
An important concession would be restarting aid to Ukraine.
Side note: it’s not just McCarthy. With the house GOP split, *both* factions need Democratic votes to pass *anything*.
