Elsie is fixed. The final problem was a corroded and loose HT lead causing an intermittent loss of spark. The plug-in black box has fixed the temperature gauge so it now reads correctly with the wrong sensor.

I had forgotten how brutal the LC power band is.

< 5,000 RPM: bimbling along
5,000 - 7,000 RPM: ooh, this is quite
7,000+ : FUUUUUUUUU...

@Naich

Oh my god how brilliant it is to see one again. I miss mine so much

@SpeedStar
Now is a good time to buy one. The price has plummeted since I bought mine. You can get a decent looking one for 6 to 6.5k now. A good one was 8k when I bought mine.

@Naich it's insane money though, but I have to be honest I'm looking at it through a very nostalgic lens when these things changed hands for a couple of hundred quid.

My one, complete with Kenny Roberts dream machine paint, was about 900 quid. Got stolen and broke my heart.

They were as common as biscuits in 1985 and I miss the sound, sight and smell of these beautiful things.

Your bike is absolutely stunning, the teen inside me is wondering why no allspeeds, but the adult in me knows why. 👍😁

@SpeedStar
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. I'm going to install security measures in the garage, now that I'm going out on it rather than fixing it.

@Naich

I hear that.

Losing my RD has stuck with me, and I never want to feel that pain again, so all my bikes are locked, chained and tracked.

Nowadays it's so different, if your bike is stolen the chance of it being a joyride and dumped is practically zero and the police don't care.

I'm having to go back to the start and do it properly (no apnr in the 80s 😁) so I'm back to 125s, but my grom and my atx are more than capable of making me smile, and my DT keeps the 2 stroke smell alive 👍
