DOLPHINS SUFFER AT MARINE PARKS

Imagine living your entire life in your living room, the vast world outside becoming an alien concept. For #dolphins in #MarineParks, this analogy becomes a harsh reality. Confined within the limited dimensions of an artificial enclosure, these sentient creatures endure a daily assault of bright lights and booming noises, while their instinctive urge to explore and socialize is constantly thwarted.

WHY IS CAPTIVITY A CURSE FOR DOLPHINS?

#Dolphins are built for the boundless #ocean, where they travel huge distances, socialise with their #pod, hunt for food, and navigate through challenges.

But in #captivity, their world shrinks drastically. They’re confined in limited spaces, surrounded by artificial environments, and subjected to continuous human interaction and unnatural behaviours, all for humans’ amusement.

THE RIPPLE EFFECTS OF CAPTIVITY

Imagine the dolphin’s tale in two distinct scenarios – the wild #ocean and a #MarinePark. Out in the open ocean, a dolphin travels kilometres per day, dive deep into the depths, and engage with a diverse community of sea life. Contrast this with a life spent circling the same limited, chlorinated, sterile, concrete #tank, day in and day out.

Captive dolphins have to swim their #enclosures 500 times per day to match the distance that wild #dolphins swim.

PLEDGE TO NEVER SET FOOT IN DOLPHIN MARINE PARKS 🐬

Instead, choose to experience these magnificent creatures in their true domain – wild, free, and unconfined. Your commitment could ripple across the world, becoming a powerful wave of change.

@anna_lillith I will never go to these places - I am only 20km from the North Sea anyway (I need to find the best areas to watch for them, as I suspect they avoid the main viewpoint areas as those are busy with container ships as the highway is with cars and lorries), but there are still plenty to see round here

@anna_lillith

Swimming with dolphins shouldn't exist either.

@anna_lillith haven't seen dolphins here for a while... I did see a pod of whales heading south for summer tho.
