Both Twitter and Unity fuckup stink of machismo and bravado: “I know better and I can ram this and people will accept it”

Never drink the Incompetence flavored kool aid folks.

@Migueldeicaza
Twitter fucks up: people go to open-source/distributed software
Unity fucks up: people go to open-source software

who's next?

@djlink @Migueldeicaza Sounds like the market is proving how important it is to have open source as an optional parachute / protection in any given sector.

@Migueldeicaza Reddit too. (The Reddit CEO stated that he idolizes Musk and he decided to do the same things after seeing how "well" it worked for Twitter. 🫣)

Twitter and Reddit haven't really backtracked and a lot of people are still using both somehow / somewhy.

For Unity, it'll make a major dent in their cash flows, so I'm pretty sure more will switch away.

@garrett my bad, these idiots are breeding like weed and forgot about that AAA-graded greed and incompetence
@Migueldeicaza Many times avoiding that within both small and large companies is really difficult. It’s a “company smell” (IMO it’s similar to “code smells”)
@Migueldeicaza this, and insane arrogance. It's almost like drunk people about to make their worst life choices "what, me?! You're saying that *I* won't do it?!"
@BartWronski arrogance is a much better word. Yes, absolutely
@Migueldeicaza
The first rule of Dunning-Kruger Club is that nobody knows they're in Dunning-Kruger Club.
@Migueldeicaza for unity I think it was more "I'm going to be out in six months so all that matters is next quarter's earnings. After that is someone else's problem"
@Migueldeicaza the unity idiocy was inevitable the day they hired the former head of EA.
