I feel like #unity putting out this nothing statement after a week is somehow worse than saying nothing. They didn't say they'd delay anything, provided absolutely no details--it's basically no statement at all. So now devs continue to be in limbo.

@jacobschumer Translation: we didn't think the peasants would revolt, so we'll try this again when you're all a little more desperate.
@jacobschumer Emphasis on "making changes to the policy", that's a full "We're not removing the new fee, we're just going to try and make it look less awful, but it would be the same shit lol"
@jacobschumer I bet it would be just a flip flopping of words here and there and people would still have to pay install tax.

@jacobschumer You can infer a lot from pile of PR bullshit like this tweet.

Unity has no idea what to do. They want more money, and don't know how to get it. They realize their recent approach is clearly fucked. But they have no idea what to do about it.

I assume their BoD and execs are currently at each other's throats.

Smart developers are already seriously considering other products.

@jacobschumer Basically the gold ole "Sorry you got mad" apology. I expect them to just continue to stall to see if it blows over.
