Any #librarians or other #library folks out there have experience of setting up a book swap shelf in your library? Particularly in an academic library? I've wanted to try this for a while but concern has been raised about "swappable" books being confused with library stock... @librarians
@woodsiegirl @librarians we helped the college gardeners set up a book swap hutch in the garden which I think is a good location for it, a bit of separation from the library. Inside the building we've got a "free to a good home" shelf in the entrance foyer (mostly decent quality donations that don't fit our collection policy) which hasn't caused any confusion, that I'm aware of!
@woodsiegirl we (academic library) have a book share - we encourage folks to drop off books at the end of the semester and folks can pick them up whenever. We have a separate shelf with MANY labels on it.
@woodsiegirl We had a different kind of shelving (different shape and colour) and some physical separation from the proper collection
