@256 Games is an entire category and STILL only makes it to number six.

How turn of the millennium!

@256 23 years later and we’re all still chatting about pokemon mp3s
@hannah @256 They reverse-engineered the AOL protocol ("FDO"). It's only a matter of time!
@256 Alta Vista should make an unexpected come back, folks are ready for it.
@256 such an innocent and full of expectations period, the ‘90s
@256 Nice bit of Lego Racers representation there! Although, whoever's playing isn't doing such a good job

@lunarloony @256 I recall that game being absolute garbage, but I also recall my computer not really being up to the task. I would love to find out I was wrong all these years now that I know what a 3D accelerator is.

The fact that you could build your own car out of actual Lego pieces was f*ng rad, though.

@gordoooo_z @256 One of those games I think you needed to have grow up with. The building really is the best part, and the system of 'building' powerups is brilliant, but the driving model is kinda janky, and if you get a certain powerup consistently then you can win every race with 0 effort!
@lunarloony @256 Yeah I had it as a kid, but the family computer at the time couldn't quite hack it in the races.

But yeah, the builder was definitely the star of the show. I was always a sucker for games with robust character/level creators, and distinctly *not* a finisher of story/career modes.
@gordoooo_z @256 Me too! Hence why I'm such a big Sims fan 😆
I can report that the N64 version is comparable to a well-equipped PC, but the PlayStation version is like a fly crawling through treacle.
@lunarloony @256 Sim City was more my speed. Definitely lost my share of hours to the Sims, but these days, I find I get stuck in either CAS or the house builder, bit lose interest in the actual game pretty quick (doesn't help that Sims 4 really doesn't live up to Sims 3, gameplay wise. Does have great construction tools, though!).
@256 I forgot how MP3 players looked like Game Boy Colors.
@256 Star Wars went through that awkward 2000s phase too.
