QUESTIONS: THE SEQUEL

What would be the worst movie to have a sequel?

What would you call this terrible sequel?

@RickiTarr

Bad sequel to a good film:

"Holly and Anna", romantic sequel to The Third Man.

@RickiTarr The Sixth Sense

Dead Already

@RickiTarr thank _you_ for the challenge! Always engaging/amusing/bemusing/provoking :)
@RickiTarr Pretty much any Lars von Trier film: Melancholia, Breaking the Waves, Dancer in the Dark, Dogville. I guess it would be called Wreckage, or Debris Field.
[Edited because Dogtown is completely different than Dogville lol]
@Subumbral Oh man that would be a ride
@RickiTarr
Original: Lost in Translation
Sequel: He said WHAT?
@RickiTarr Two Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest
@RickiTarr The Seventh Sea-Lion
@u0421793 @RickiTarr
"PLAY CHESS WITH ME! WHY ARE YOU AFRAID TO PLAY CHESS WITH ME!"
@RickiTarr An actual sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey, called "Dave Does The Whole Damn Thing Again."

@RickiTarr

Film: Citizen Kane

Sequel: Kane 2: Probate!

@RickiTarr

Film: Casablanca

Sequel: Du-Casa: Rick's Desert Adventures

@RickiTarr

Film: Inception

Sequel: Inception 2: In-2-the-Dreamtime

@RickiTarr
Oh there's a whole bunch of movies I'm glad they never made a sequel to because they were perfect gems they way they were.
Movies like:
Highlander
The Matrix
The Blues Brothers
...
@blueshiftnz @RickiTarr We call these the "There can be only one" films.
@thomasbeagle @blueshiftnz @RickiTarr Sometimes I wish they had stopped at "Star Wars: Episode"

@lotographia
> Sometimes I wish they had stopped at "Star Wars: Episode"

The films have been on a downward trajectory since RotJ. I'm glad that was made though, as it was the only one of the original trilogy I was old enough to see in the cinema.

@thomasbeagle @blueshiftnz @RickiTarr

@lotographia
My thoughts about the original Star Wars trilogy are pretty much the same as what I said about The Matrix. The original is a great standalone adventure film, but the overall story of the original trilogy makes it worth putting up with a bit of cringe in the second and third installments.

The Karate Kid is another franchise I feel the same way about.

@thomasbeagle @blueshiftnz @RickiTarr

@blueshiftnz @RickiTarr also great tv shows with only one season like Sleepy Hollow...
@blueshiftnz @RickiTarr there are sooooo many IPs I wish they would just leave alone. Let them be the gems of their time that they are, and come up with something NEW

@blueshiftnz
> there's a whole bunch of movies I'm glad they never made a sequel to because they were perfect gems they way they were. Movies like... The Matrix

I agree the second and third films weren't as good as the original. But despite a few cringe moments, I really enjoyed the original trilogy as a complete story. They're kind of like Back to the Future in that respect.

That recent Matrix sequel though, #FacePalm.

@RickiTarr

@blueshiftnz
The only way I can make the recent Matrix knock-off OK is to pretend it's a parody. Like a Scary Movie or Spaceballs of late 90s cyberpunk/ virtual reality films (there were a *lot*).

@RickiTarr

@RickiTarr
Highlander 2. I've heard for years that they made one, but it simply does not exist. Nope. Hollywood rumor mill nonsense.
@Kalshann It does and it's insane
@RickiTarr
Nope. Can't make me believe.

@Kalshann @RickiTarr

Definitely doesn't exist, and they certainly didn't make a spin-off TV series!

@blueshiftnz
> they certainly didn't make a spin-off TV series!

I haven't rewatched this as an adult, but I remember loving it as a kid.

@Kalshann @RickiTarr

@RickiTarr Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull....

We just pretend that one doesn't exist.

@ShredderFeeder @RickiTarr there are only two Indiana Jones movies
@pikesley @RickiTarr I was actually ok with the dial of destiny....not great, but a good ending.

@RickiTarr "Respected Comrade *Kim Jong Un* is a Great Thinker and Theoretician As Well"

(A sequel to "Respected Comrade *Kim Jong Il* is a Great Thinker and Theoretician")
