Ask Microsoft: Are you using our personal data to train AI? https://foundation.mozilla.org/en/campaigns/microsoft-ai/ I have a good guess: Microsoft will use your personal data to train AI, even if you use an alternative OS. We are doomed with big tech now. Please boost for reach. #privacy #security
Ask Microsoft if They Plan to Use Our Personal Data to Train AI

A healthy internet requires an active, global community. Mozilla’s advocacy work brings people together from around the world to educate and fight for privacy, inclusion, literacy, and all principles of a healthy internet.

let's hear it from the man himself, Gates. The AI Economy. bootle.
@nixCraft You would've thought they could have learnt from the backlash against Zoom...
@nixCraft Will save those lawyers some valuable time: the answer is YES.
@EugeneTeplitsky
Yeah, if they didn't make it clear there's a reason for that, and good it surely isn't
@nixCraft

@nixCraft I recently decided to try to take privacy seriously, and by Baldur's beard it was a pain in the ass. These days compromises are inevitable; but a combo of GrapheneOS, Tracker Control, Aurora Store, DuckDuckGo and Brave Browser gives some semblance of privacy. Open source apps for as many other apps as I can through F-Droid.

It should not be this difficult/tedious to keep my personal data (mostly) private.

@nixCraft nice question but in Italy we have a proverb for that: "non chiedere all'oste se il vino è buono" (t: Don't bother asking the innkeeper if the wine is good).
@fringe hey hey hey, right in line with what we were talking about!

@WillieCoyote Enjy training the machines to take over your job.

What could possibly go wrong?

@nixCraft

Microsoft does not have my PII and will not get it.

At least, not on my part. If another party gave it to them, then that is a different problem, and potentially, a lawsuit.

"Tick, Tick

Fellow citizens, the truth is that our present can only be as stable as our future.

For too long we have hobbled from decade to decade, generation to generation, and millennium to millennium, myopically adhering to superfluous battles that can never be won. Never once as a species forwarding or embracing an all encompassing path towards a certainly better future.

Our excuses have been many, our reasoning mostly incoherent, and our lack of vision as a species, certainly fatal.

For in the meantime, as each tick of the ages has passed, the critical threats posed and ignored by our species discordance have increased exponentially.

Pandemic famine and disease, massively destructive weapons, fatal atmospheric and climate change, super volcanic eruptions, catastrophic space body impacts, Orwellian societies of unparalleled oppression, and many other global catastrophes too numerous to list here, waiting to befall us at any moment.

In fact, one of the most immediate and ominous threats facing America and much of the world today is the utilization of advanced technologies for the implementation of authoritarian control over societies.

My friends, the truth is that if we do not fight for and secure freedom today, the time will very soon come when it will be almost impossible to do so.

In retrospect, when one soberly considers the critical challenges that we must face together to survive as a species, our differences, at times, can become almost imperceptible."
