I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. I absolutely love it here. My senior colleagues are respectful and very understanding of the challenges junior faculty face. My junior colleagues are incredible people and dynamic scholars. (I suppose the senior faculty are too, I just spend less time talking about research and personal lives with them)

There are three campuses at the University of Toronto, each with their own separate sociology departments. If you join the downtown campus, your administrative life will mostly take place there. However, there are two other departments that also participate in the same graduate program, and offer a ton of other people who may share your research interests, as well as a lot of other junior faculty.

The University of Toronto is typically ranked within the top 30 universities globally, and the resources generally match that ranking.

And the city of Toronto is a fascinating place, with literally half of the population coming from outside of Canada.

It's a great place. If you do any sort of work on technology, you should apply.
