I have a question to #actuallyautistic about a sentence that a father of an autistic child said. What do you think/is your reaction to the following sentence?

"There's a little mourning to be done about having a normal child."

I deliberately don't give my opinion to avoid any influence.

@Autistrain @actuallyautistic @neurodiversity Reminds me of the legendary article Jim Sinclair wrote in 1993, 30 years ago. I think we made progress since then on a societal level. The individual level is another story I guess.

I like this article. I read it again, and it's in some ways still actual.
The societal made great progress on autism. The individual is something else. It remembers me of this phrase:

What's worry me isn't autism or the autist, it's how cruel the individual can be.
