#Firefish might just be the future of social media right in the middle between blogs, reddit, instagram and twitter.

IF such a sweet spot exists, firefish is the most likely candidate to occupy it.

Also I predict that all relevant social media will be compatible with #ActivityPub or die.

@thomasrenkert If only I knew how to actually find and use it. 😵‍💫
Firefish

A fun, new, open way to experience social media

Firefish

@AnguaDelphine

Very cool, thanks a lot! 🤩

@AlexandraLason

You're welcome.

Always happy to direct people over here.

Masto to Firefish takes A LOT of getting used to but is worth it I think.

@AnguaDelphine

It really seems like being worth it.

So I'll give it a try and dive into it.

@thomasrenkert What does it do better than regular #MissKey? Also, very bad naming choice, "firefish software" will yield very unrelated results when searching around.
@tyil I haven't used misskey a lot, but firefish seems to have a few more bells and whistles and I personally liked the user experience better.
@thomasrenkert What kind of bells and/or whistles, though? Just saying "it's better trust me" doesn't inspire confidence. Especially as related to "blogs, reddit, instagram, twitter", how does it mash all these together?

From what I've seen,
#kbin is the only Fediverse project that supports multiple sections to handle each of the different Fediverse styles individually in a single application.
@tyil I mean... I am not an ambassador or dev for the project. You can have a look yourself or watch some YT video about it. Kbin does something similar starting from a reddit-like view. Firefish starts from a twitter/insta or tumblr-like view. I personally like the many widgets for the side bar.
@thomasrenkert Well sure, you don't need to be an ambassador, but when you start making statements such as "IF such a sweet spot exists, firefish is the most likely candidate to occupy it", you should have some arguments to back that up. Seeing as you have none, I'm guessing that statement is without substance, and I can safely ignore the praise for this project.
@thomasrenkert yeah I like what I see. Really looks great and interesting
@thomasrenkert sadly no app yet what rocks. But the website works great on mobile
@thomasrenkert I love it for a few reasons: emoji reactions (instead of just heart or star here), antennas (let's you follow a group of hashtags not just one at a time), channels (groups of like-minded on your instance), and MFM that allows more fun use of text in a post.
But ATM it's a bummer because almost all my people are on Mastodon so none of that includes them. One day though! I've locked down a couple of alt accounts over there already. Is that enough examples?
@julia antennas and channels are great, yes! I think a lot of use cases will emerge once some communities are actually using it.
