@Susan_Larson_TN I am amazed that some folks think transgender surgery is a "new fad." Dr. Biber, who worked in Trinidad, Colorado, was performing surgery back in the '60's. Even the nuns at his Catholic hospital didn't object. This was, of course, before the intolerant right decided to make it an issue.

The first trans woman who underwent a sex change surgery was #DoraRichter in 1931 (Berlin) She was one of the earliest known trans women to undergo complete gender reassignment surgery, including castration and vaginoplasty. These surgeries took place in the early 1930s at the Institute for Sexual Research in Berlin, led by Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld. Predating both Lili Elbe's and Christine Jorgensen's surgeries.

Unfortunately, much of the medical documentation related to these early surgeries was lost or destroyed, especially during the rise of Nazism when the Institute was raided and its works were largely eradicated.

But trans women have existed since the dawn of humanity.

@Susan_Larson_TN our daughter attended university at Chaminade in Honolulu. She had a mahu in her dorm. It was accepted on campus and everywhere on the island. Like you said, always existed.
