This is a game changer:

In the early morning hours, Ukrainian forces carried out an amphibious landing on the Tarkhankut peninsula of Crimea where they destroyed a Russian S-400 air defence system.

Knowing the difference Patriot air defence systems have made for Ukraine, taking out the corresponding S-400 systems in Crimea can spell serious trouble.

Especially now, where some of these systems have been pulled back to protect Moscow and airfields inside Russia against Ukrainian drone attacks.

UPDATE The description above is not entirely correct. The results mentioned was not 1 operation but 2 consecutive, successful operations.

@randahl
Yeehaa!
Clearing the deck for those lovely new F16s ...
@randahl They're prepping to lay air superiority all over Crimea as soon as they'll have the F-16s.
@riley that could be a long term goal. But short term, I believe Ukraine is paving the way for more drone attacks on Russian logistics.
@[email protected] unlike the ruskies, Ukraine is ONLY targeting military sites, not civilians. Small strategic target sites not cities.
@randahl I have read the bridge is f***** So they are cut off from getting heavy supplies. I wonder when they start abandoning ship?
@randahl Why is this a game changer?
This is not the first und will not be the last S-400 system destroyed by the Ukrainians.
@randahl You're mixing up two different events. The S-400 was destroyed yesterday (there was even video published) and the landing which happened today.
@older
I think so too.
@randahl
@LenticularCloud @older thank you to bringing my attention to this. I will look into it.

@randahl

Go! Ukraine, Go!

Go get your country back, every inch of it!

@randahl Combined with the F-16's that are coming from the Netherlands later this year, it's game over.

@randahl

So the #CrimeaBeachParty actually happened?

Damn! Missed it! ;-)
