Imagine - in 2023 - being asked to spend $130 on a emulation device that only includes one controller, and out of the box is only capable of playing $30 Atari-era quality games?

And they’re doing it with a straight face.

And are expecting you to be jazzed at the privilege.

@RonsCompVids Shit, pretty much every device I own made after 1989 can do that.
@RonsCompVids I own THEC64 Mini, but it's not something I actually use on the regular -- it's a novelty, a curio on the shelf in my office, like the Mario Bros. Game and Watch and the little mini arcade machines.

@mos_8502 @RonsCompVids I got TheC64 full-size, but yeah. It’s a retro dust collector. I’m way more likely to fire up my RetroPie or MiSTer.

I don’t regret getting it, though.

@RonsCompVids It‘s cheaper to buy a whole setup with an old CRT TV, 30 Atari games, two controllers and retro couch.
@RonsCompVids reminds me of the NES classic mini & SNES classic mini, two systems I very much regret getting. The only thing I use them for these days is to hook up the controllers to the MiSTer.
@RonsCompVids wow they're REALLY counting on Gen-X missing their childhood, huh?
@Tweetfiction I'm thinking that a majority of Gen-X folks are either going to gravitate to NES or SMS... 2600 is tail-end boomer.
@Tweetfiction @RonsCompVids You know what. It works. Source: am gen-x.
@loke @Tweetfiction Maybe? But as a gen-x'er, you've got better and cheaper options.
@RonsCompVids @Tweetfiction Oh for sure. I'm not going to buy this thing. I can still see why it exists for someone like me, but with the means and opportunity to buy this on a whim 🙂
@RonsCompVids meh, i think it's fine just because it has an actual cartridge slot, if you have a bunch of old atari games you played a long time ago you might like this, wish it did come with a second controller though
@mjdxp If you have a bunch of old games, then you likely already have the old console. If HDMI is a consideration, then you likely already have a superior HDMI output solution. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@RonsCompVids @fortyseven

Yes, blatant nostalgia money grab … but ... but ... <whispers> I want one.

@RonsCompVids @jesscanady and it’s not even interesting technically
