alright we finished up Escaflowne and I quite liked it, and it was definitely a big notch above your typical anime, but it didn't like, change my life or anything.

I'm open to suggestions for other Classics of Anime. Just dont say like cowboy bebop or evangelion. I am not a noob

@cargo classics you say? Hmmm... Well Gravitation I consider classic at this point. Of course there's Ghost in the Shell: SAC.

There's the 00's party platter of Wolfs Rain, The Big O, Eureka 7, InuYasha, Paranoia Agent, Witchhunter Robin, and Fullmetal Alchemist.

Earlier I'd go for Macross as well as Captain Harlock.

For lesser classics, I do recommend giving Spiral a try for its storytelling and Pani Poni Dash out for its insanity.

@notsobigkid i've been trying so hard to find the japanese version of SAC and can only ever find the dub. i never watch dubs. FMA: Brotherhood is on my short list. other ones I am looking at:

gurren lagann, legend of the galactic heroes, lupin 3rd, gun buster, and the big mamajama, Gundam

@cargo If I can ever get around to checking my external drive, I might actually have the subs. Not sure though.

Lupin 3rd for sure is great - super long though!

@cargo *slides in quickly* Are you already watching One Piece?
@TrixieFenFen welp @Axiom has watched all of one piece and i dont think i can commit to something of that immensity

@cargo @TrixieFenFen

I watched all of One Piece up to about the 800th episode or so...and then gave up.

It got too obsessed with enormous breasted women and panties.

Maybe I'll return to it someday, but...my tolerance for that sort of thing is low. Real turn-off for me. Fan service of all sorts is toxic to me.

@Axiom @cargo Thankfully I think it gets better later on, but that was like 250 episodes ago so ... its gonna take awhile. Good news is its only got a arc or two left before finishing up
@cargo @Axiom yeah if you're not already into it I wouldn't try. but gods do I love it
@TrixieFenFen @Axiom for me the sweet spot is anywhere between 24 and 40 episodes.. enough to tell a detailed story, but not so much that it goes on forever. like death note is about the perfect length for me. most anime i like goes 12 episodes and I want more. but not like, a shit ton more.
@cargo @Axiom yeah have you two watched beastars? that's another one everyone talks about. only 2 seasons
@TrixieFenFen @Axiom I’ve read the manga but wasn’t that into the 3d cgi animation of the show
@cargo Ah! My Goddess! is a really fun and sweet anime
@cargo Definitely give Nadia - Secret of the Blue Water a try. An amazing but criminally under-known anime. The theming works very well for littles too, a young boy and girl off on adventures around the world whilst learning about themselves and the world. Reminiscent of things like Studio Ghibli stories and games like Ni No Kuni and grand SNES RPGs like Terranigma.
@striper isn’t that a lesser known Gainax production?

@cargo It is yes and the best one for me! The characterisation is so endearing, the visuals are so complimentary and the music is genius. And an added bonus - it has a baby lion character and there is an ABDL scene. :)

The one flaw is that there are a few episodes (like 5 or 6) towards the end that are garbage and extremely cringe because they ran out of money and had to outsource those episodes but they're mostly just filler and can be easily skipped if you can't stand them.

@cargo Have you seen the 1985 Dirty Pair TV series? Chaotic sci-fi silly fun.
