I been watching a lot of Lower Decks lately so here's Lt. JG Cargie on the Cerritos.
its wild how "annexing Canada in a brutal occupation" was part of the first Fallout game's lore illustrating how the USA in the Fallout universe is much more aggressive, fascistic and jingoistic than the USA we know! So glad to not live in THAT timeline!

it may sound silly but i love humans. i love seeing us, confused and stressed and stumbling through whatever this earthly existence is… showing our humanity to each other.

giving kindness and compassion and care, and gentleness. giving each other hope.

these things fight the darkness. they fight fascism. if seeing the hate and cruelty directed at other humans breaks your heart like it does mine, put a little opposite of that into the world.

we all need it. because we’re all in this together.

Welp. I might be back here more often if things don't work out on bsky. idk. i hear conflicting things.

the fact is I like this place but if I do come back it will be with a few minor adjustments. first and foremost i will not be putting content warnings on every little thing. sorry, I gave it a fair shot but its just not how i like to post. I'll put them on things that are nsfw or seriously bad, but that's it.

Its a common truism to say "Furries keep the internet going" and "if the plane to Anthrocon went down then the internet would collapse" and its not quite as true as it used to be.

But it IS true in the case of a big blue monoceros named Tugrik. He passed away very recently, after a long struggle with illness and poor health. You might not know his name, but all of furrydom owes him a debt. Quietly, behind the scenes, he was instrumental in the modern fandom's origins.

Tugrik was one of those furs who kept the Internet going. He was FurryMUCK's hardware admin back in the day, and was one of the smartest furs I ever met. In a fandom that has a lot of technical experts in it, Tugrik was on another level. His knowledge of computer networking, his ability to build and invent, was absolutely genius-level. The guy built a mobile wifi hotspot before anyone else, ffs. He built an FPV drone from scratch - a decade before they existed. He invented a kind of GPS antenna that revolutionized navigation of all kinds of vehicles including farm tractors. If he had wanted to he could have been a tech billionaire. He was not interested in that, although he did make a good living. He built stuff because it was fun and because he wanted to experiment and play around. He was a true geek, a real maker. He raised chickens and grew his own hot peppers. He learned stuff and messed around with that stuff for his whole life, and I can't imagine a better way to live.

And he was a brilliant cook, and a good friend, and generous almost to a fault, and just all around a warm, friendly person that I will miss greatly. We lost a good one. Goodbye, Tug.

one of my favorite spy movie bits is when someone opens a briefcase and there's parts of a sniper rifle all laid out neatly and they start assembling the sniper rifle

As Cargie is now my main fursona I wanted to revise her and give her a more "grownup" appearance.  Don't worry, the twintails are not going anywhere and the other version is still VERY much active, this is just what she looks like when she's not, y'know, trapped in a reality loop or something.

She is based heavily on Kim Wexler from Better Call Saul, who I adore <3
