#ThanxBiden for even more #ClimateAction

#Microgrids directly contribute to #EnergyReliability and #GridResilience, by allowing the local grid to operate separately from a larger network. The Office of Electricity has $14.7M in funding to deploy #microgrid technologies in underserved, Indigenous, remote, rural and islanded communities. This funding focuses on deploying grid-enabling tech like #CleanEnergy generation and storage systems, control systems, and more. https://www.energy.gov/oe/articles/us-department-energy-announces-147-million-microgrid-technologies-underserved-and

U.S. Department of Energy Announces $14.7 Million for Microgrid Technologies for Underserved and Indigenous Communities

The U.S. Department of Energy announced a $14.7 million funding opportunity for multi-year RD&D of microgrid-related technologies to bring microgrid solutions to underserved and Indigenous communities in remote and islanded regions.

@GreenFire $14.7M... need magnitudes more.
@ai6yr @GreenFire I came here to say that too. $14 million might as well be $0.
@pixel @ai6yr
Yeah and if you like so many others on social media keep disparaging the #ClimateAction legislation that Democrats were able to get passed than we have a good chance to have the GOP back in charge of our climate and energy policies, but yeah there's something to criticize about every attempt at progress I suppose. https://www.project2025.org/

@GreenFire @pixel I don't think it's a criticism, it's just that we need a LOT more than society is going to deal with this crisis.

@ai6yr @pixel
Yes perhaps, but it sure seems to me that Democrats pretty much constantly get blamed for not doing enough on social media which just tends to suppress voter turnout because the message so many of the politically inactive take away is #BothSidesAreBad

So, I'm just expressing my concern that I think more people should be trying to keep the Republicans from retaking control over climate, energy, etc. policies.

@GreenFire @ai6yr @pixel This is the tough line to walk and it requires that we understand the audience we're talking to.

Dissing the Dems is problematic as you say: it's really important that we identify who the real culprits are & that we do everything we can to keep the repubs from getting power again. And we actually need to gain more seats and more of a Dem majority to do what needs to be done.

And at the right time, it's good to prod the Dems to do better. In this case, more than $14M.

@colo_lee @ai6yr @pixel
The place to prod the political party trying to keep fascists from taking power is at the primaries imo when we have such a low voter turnout problem in our country.

Anyways, I've not seen that "prodding" the Democrats by criticizing the legislation they manage to get passed despite Republican opposition has ever helped to get more Democrats elected so that fewer compromises with the conservatives wouldn't be necessary.

@GreenFire @colo_lee @ai6yr I completely agree with you - the primary goal is to keep the fascists out, and 14 million is better than nothing, and the gesture itself is nice and appreciated. However, this is such a small amount it’s not even enough to fix any city, much less more than one. I’m not above calling out my own party for silly moves.

@pixel @colo_lee @ai6yr
When I used to work off of government grants for research, these influxes of money were appreciated. The Department of Energy is providing this money for research not to fix all of the wastewater facilities on all of our islands and Native American lands.

They probably need to research a few things out in order to get a better handle on how much it will cost if we get a Congress willing to fund it.

Oh wait is this the story on microgrids? Oh well same goes.

@GreenFire @pixel I understand your sensitivity to this, but given the Republicans are trying to deliberately burn down the planet... complaining about not having enough money put into an area is not going to drive voters away. There's one party screaming "WE'RE WHITE SUPREMACISTS AND PROUD OF IT, AND THERE'S JEWISH SPACE LASERS" and then there's another party which is being hobbled by having to deal with crazy conspiracy folks on everything... I don't think there's a comparison.
