I think we all know Canada is especially hot and on fire at the moment.

But in case you were wondering just HOW hot and on fire it is...

The CBC Climate Dashboard gives you a ton of at-a-glance data:

@robsonfletcher They should just show what parts of Canada aren’t on fire 😢
@opethminded @robsonfletcher I’m in the Interior of BC in the few square kilometres that aren’t currently on fire. It would just be a dot. 🤨
@Yup_Its_Holly @robsonfletcher I lived in the Pacific Northwest a few years ago and once had an uncontained 100,000 acre wildfire come within 2 miles of my house. I can still smell the smoke. Wishing you favorable winds, low temps and torrential rain. Take good care.
@opethminded @robsonfletcher That’s scary. Torrential rain is expected here next week. Fingers crossed!

@robsonfletcher Given what is happening in #NWT and other locations, I am reminded of this 2019 #CBC article on the increased risk of fires due to the #forestry industry heavy application of #glyphosate to remove undergrowth they do not want, but which is more fire-resistant. This is based on research by forest ecologists.

How we manage forests could be making fires worse, researchers warn | CBC News

Using glyphosate is a common forest management practice, but it's coming under increasing scrutiny as research indicates it may be removing one of the ways a natural forest protects itself against wildfire.
