He obviously was looking for me to express outrage that a woman would color her own hair so. Instead, I replied "so." He said that she shouldn't have dyed her hair pink because he didn't find it attractive.
I'll admit that my brain froze at that moment. The level of misogyny to say "a woman shouldn't do anything that a random guy finds unattractive" was staggering. 1/2
@The_Whore_of_Blahbylon I should add that the pink hair lady comment came after he mentioned seeing a "guy in a dress." When I didn't react with horror, my father asked if I'd wear a dress. I said "It's not for me, but I'm not going to judge someone who wants to."
Oh, and my wife had been thinking of getting her hair dyed purple. My father's "pink" comment pushed her further down the path. She's looking into dyes and wants to do a streak first. I'm supporting her.

Kimberley@TechyDad She could also try a pop of color tape in extension. It's a nice, low commitment way to play with vivid colors without having to lighten her own hair enough for pinks, purples, blues , etc. to read true to color.
@Mtn_Fox I believe my wife is currently looking at a kind of shampoo that colors your hair temporarily. You wash it in and out tints your hair, but then washes out over time. It would let her experiment with color without committing to anything major.

The darker her hair is the more like a reflect hue (most visible in sunlight) these colors will be, instead of the color it looks like in the bottle.

There is a 0% chance that they will ever try to understand those who are not 100% like themselves. We should either conform, or disappear.
@LenW @The_Whore_of_Blahbylon This is definitely true of my father. He'll often tell me that my (liberal like me) sister agreed with him on something. When I ask her, though, she says that she disagreed with him.
I've learned that my father will think that you agree with him unless you EXTREMELY STRONGLY disagree. And even then, there's a decent chance that he'll remember you agreeing with him.
It's really frustrating.
