So, thanks to the heroic police action, people all over the world now know about Kari Newell's 'stupid mistakes', have great respect for the previously unknown Marion County Record and surmise that Mr Newell is filing for divorce because Police Chief Cody Gideon is having, or would like to have, an affair with Ms Newell.

@nickmartin None of this is unprecedented or should be considered shocking. What's disappointing is a journalism professor ignorant of the long history of such things happening to Black and Mexican newspapers even after the civil war. Go Google Ida B Wells and Jovita Idar.

Or if you're looking for a White newspaper attacked like this, Google "abolitionist newspapers attacked." You'll find even in KS none of this is new.

This is what oligarchy and fascism look like...

1. The criminal acts of the wealthy MUST be ignored, even if public safety suffers as a result
2. Taxpayer-funded public services become converted to serve only the wealthy
3. The free press disappears
4. Cronyism reigns
5. Two tier justice, with impunity for the rich, becomes the norm

And the citizens who vote to change any of it are ignored.
