this is at 70x30px at mono which comes out to 74,010,645 bytes and it turns out furry dot engineer's limit is like 100mb thanks crashdoom
the fediverse finally has the entirety of hackers published to it. you all are welcome
@taco someone posted all of Shrek in AV1 on Internet Archive in a ludicrously small filesize

Shrek in Discord-friendly 8MB (AV1)

Internet Archive

@taco @JackRacc back in may of last year someone crunched the entirety of morbius into a 47.81 mb webm file called "full-1.webm"

i have it saved but i still haven't watched the movie past the intro lol, i did skip around a bit to see if it actually was the whole thing, but i still haven't seen the movie

@krishean @JackRacc lmao yes! i remember seeing that running around telegram and twitter, that was wild
@taco @JackRacc if you check out what encoding settings were used for it you might be able to figure out how to get better picture quality for your encode
@krishean @JackRacc i'm trying to compress 2gb ish of a really decent quality 1080p bluray rip into <100mb, but i've also been playing with a lot of different ffmpeg settings to get it there. i'll see if i can compress the audio more to balance out the video
@taco @krishean HE-AAC V2 is legit impressive. You can get it down to like 16kbps for 64kbps MP3 quality
@taco @JackRacc apparently there is even a subtitle stream in the thing?
@taco i'm pretty sure you're not the first one to do this! i remember that going around in like 2018 or so. exact same movie, too!
-F
@Hearth i'm glad i can keep the spirit going on then!

test #movie 2 please ignore

#hackers #hacktheplanet #ffmpeg

this one is actually at 50x22px @ 15fps w audio at 14kbps ish? and it fits within the 40mb limit imposed upon myself by the mastodon api i was looking at earlier (https://meow.social/api/v1/instance)
last one, someone asked for a divx overlay to add more charm to it so here's a clip bc i'm lazy
@taco I'll have you know that these crashed my video driver when I tried to play it in VLC

@taco If it's at the default, 99 MB! โ€ฆI'm not sure why that was chosen instead of 100 MB, but whatever:
https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/23726

Note that instances which are running stock Mastodon (not glitchsoc, etc) won't accept this until folks upgrade to 4.2.0-beta1 onwards.

Change media upload limits and remove client-side resizing by Gargron ยท Pull Request #23726 ยท mastodon/mastodon

For media attachments, the limits become: Images: Upload size: 10 MB to 16 MB Target dimensions: Full HD to 4K Processing limit: 4K to 8K Videos: Upload size: 40 MB to 99 MB FPS limit: 60 FPS ...

@digitalfox i'm looking at the api directly for instances to get the filesize, here (https://furry.engineer/api/v1/instance) it's `103809024`, probably the default? idk
