Tomorrow (and Saturday) I’m taking the final step towards #SuperRandonneur with this 600km ride to Lincoln and back. #cycling #bikeToot #bikeTooter #AudaxUK #AUK
@onetwotony Didn't know there was a cycle path across the Humber Bridge, thats pretty cool. Fairly flat after that too, hope the wind isn't too bad
@Nick yeah first time for me though. Big bridges have been a feature of the series - crossed the Firth of Forth and the Tay on the 400. The latest forecast a bit of a headwind at the start but mainly a cross wind for the first day with a tailwind on Saturday🤞
@Nick @onetwotony Do be aware that it's closed to cyclists and walkers after 9pm. So make sure you get there before that.
@Nick @alan the plan is to arrive when it opens on Saturday morning having slept for a couple of hours in a 5-star Audax Hotel somewhere south of Barton.
@onetwotony @Nick I do love an audax hotel. I hope the weather is kind to you on your ride. Good Luck.
@onetwotony Best of luck! I got my 1000 this year and will go for Super next year.Is this 600 a DIY or an organised ride?
@thechildofroth chapeau - 1000 is next year’s target all being well. This one’s a DIY - picked as flat a route as I reasonably could - by the time I realised 600 was within reach all of the calendars we’re booked up for PBP qualifying.
@onetwotony I was going to go for the super this year but missed out on a place on LWL (which would have been the 400 and kept the dream alive) so I did a DIY 300 and just clocked in the 1000 with a bunch of 1 and 200s. Kinda glad it panned out that way, 300 was pretty challenging (although I understand 400 is actually the hardest distance as it the longest you'll do without at least some sleep)
@thechildofroth I found the 400 OK, another DIY and I’m a big fan of over-night riding so set off late-afternoon and by the half-way point it was starting to get light so almost like 2 200s. I’ve budgeted for a proper sleep break on this ride so I’ll see how that goes.
