So...with the new semester on the horizon and COVID lurking, a recommendation for masks.

After trying MANY kinds, the 3M Aura 9205 and 9010 are the best. They don't fog my glasses while teaching. The straps go under my hair and hold the mask tight.

So there you go.

stay safe out there

Huge fan of the Aura 9205s. That bit of foam on the nose piece is a game changer.
@jbf1755 thanks for this . I’m ready to load up for school year, so this is good to know.
@jbf1755 Someone posted a toot about carbon dioxide meters the other day. Measuring carbon dioxide as a marker for inadequate air circulation indoors. Levels of 550 to 650 think about masking up. Get a meter and scare the heck out of your colleagues.
@jbf1755 Did you ever imagine before 2019 that you'd have a favourite mask?
@jbf1755 I’ve recently been making heavy use of the 9205s I bought a few months ago, “just in case”. My wife tested positive on Saturday morning. This is the first time having it for her; I still haven’t caught it (still testing negative as of this morning). We’re both vaxxed x5, but the most recent was ~9 months ago, so protection against infection has faded a lot.

@jbf1755

ya need to add a couple of pics with you wearing each mask you are recommending. No, I am not kidding or making fun of you. I am a mask wearer again real soon here in TX. carry on

@jbf1755

The 9205's are extremely comfortable. They fit well and are super comfortable. Sadly, I am very allergic to something in the foam part. 😭

@jbf1755 I can't remember exactly which product number it is, but I use the 3M Aura ones too and definitely agree with you about being the best. They don't fog my glasses either, and they're so much more comfortable for long term wear than other kinds I've tried.
@jbf1755 the 3M Aura I’ve gotten with the foam nosebridge doesn’t conform well to my chin - I have a rounder face. I like the duckbill kind with a larger breathing chamber to make it easier to breathe - Gerson 3230 duckbill is what I got. My 18 year old with a full beard found the Harley N95 L188 worked well for him as a more vertically oriented mask. The aura is pretty gappy at his beard and hard to conform around his small nose.
@sufficiency It's definitely so subjective! These worked best for me -- out of a lot of tries.
@jbf1755 @sufficiency Definitely best to try a few to find one that works well!
@sufficiency @jbf1755 3M Vflex solved same problem for me, probably the same way--it's also a duckbill.
@jbf1755 I really struggle with any masks that have elastic behind the head, but I'm willing to keep trying.
@jbf1755 there are wipes you can purchase in small box at Wal-Mart that prevent fogging.
