For me it's through recommendation by other creators and collaborations, and zero percent through YouTubes algorithm.
I filter out all generated lists through a browser plugin so I only experience YouTube through my subscriptions. All discovery is done through existing creators I am subbed to or direct recommendations from friends or the internet.
I bet the algorithm biases recommendations partially on gender.
@mattgrayyes I am wondering how YouTube compiles that list. Is it based on channel size, audience watch time of other channels, click through rate on suggestions....?
I wonder if I could easily find out my subscription gender bias ..I certainly could look through hundreds of subscriptions. I am genuinely curious if the predominantly male audience has a predominantly male subbox. That is: do all the people that watch you and identify as male also mainly subscribe to other male creators?
