For me it's through recommendation by other creators and collaborations, and zero percent through YouTubes algorithm.
I filter out all generated lists through a browser plugin so I only experience YouTube through my subscriptions. All discovery is done through existing creators I am subbed to or direct recommendations from friends or the internet.
I bet the algorithm biases recommendations partially on gender.
