The conventional wisdom that users are completely oblivious of OpenType features is way overblown. We see plenty of examples of swashes and alts in use on @FontsInUse and @FontID.

Yes, I can see why it’s frustrating for type designers to make something that seems rarely used, or generates lots of support questions.

But I wouldn’t advise punishing the most engaged customers by abandoning OT features altogether.
