Musk’s Boring Company gets OK to dig 68 miles of tunnels under Las Vegas
Other municipalities might have soured on Musk's tunnels, but Las Vegas hasn't.

@kkarhan @arstechnica Anyway: If you want a train system, build a train system. Not a system that tries to work like a train but has to avoid looking like a train.
Because car people don't think that trains look sexy enough.
Trains (and their tram/bus siblings) are the most efficient ways to transport people along the same path.
And if the geography doesn't lend itself to #rails & #trains and #trams then consider #Trolleybus|es!

@arstechnica kickbacks on boondoggles are (presumably) a helluva drug.
Heh... #kickbacks #boondoggle
@arstechnica This is the biggest bullshit waste of money of all time. It's long been scientifically proven that for ALL auto travel there is latent demand. Meaning you can never build enough roads (or tunnels) there will always be too many cars that want to access them.
If hotels are "begging for transportation options" BUILD EFFICIENT AND ACCESSIBLE PUBLIC TRANSIT.
... boring ... yeah ... definitely ... 🥱
@arstechnica It's not so much that other cities have soured on the Boring Company, but that they have a history of non-delivery.
@arstechnica Imagine spending some of that money on a decent system of public transportation.
Do better, Vegas.
@arstechnica Vegas? The city that is running out of water and has no credible long term remediation plan is spending its budget wisely, I see. Not!
@dragonsidedd @arstechnica Las Vegas is not the problem as it pertains to how much water is used from Lake Mead.
Las Vegas is one of the most water conscious cities in the world. California and Arizona (and the drought) are the biggest culprits of why Lake Mead is so low.

@arstechnica Nothing special. In The Norwegian city of #Tromsø they have underground roads for years......
