For those interested in #ecology - fireflies feed on snails and other soft #invertebrates, which presence I use to monitor habitat suitability

The #firefly on my finger has a greenish blue dot on it's right wing, which I painted and use to identify it if I find it again, for a capture-recapture approach

@Sergio is this trophic ecology specific to the north american varieties, or also in Eurasia?

@MiguelGuerreiro N.America and Eurasia. There are exceptions but soft invertebrates is indeed the norm (to the best of current scientific knowledge)
